All Grown Up: Thanksgiving

“RV Having Fun Yet?” Season 4, Episode 1

This episode is long for the show at 45 minutes. It follows the group as they take a cross-country road trip with their mothers. Their end destination is New York City so Suzy can perform in the Gracie’s Thanksgiving Day parade. She has to write a song to represent a cheese company. Angelica tries to sabotage her out of jealousy because she had also auditioned and was rejected. Meanwhile the other kids are embarrassed by their moms and are pretty miserable. This episode isn’t all that Thanksgiving-y to me, or that entertaining to me. I honestly had trouble sitting through the entire thing, I got pretty bored. This episode is definitely questionable in terms of representation of indigenous people, and as the wife and mother of some indigenous people that’s important to me. So perhaps that’s part of why I didn’t enjoy it. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but I wasn’t great. I would say if you’ve exhausted all other options this is definitely… here.
