Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016): Summer
May 8, 2017
Okay, so I don’t think anyone would go into watching this movie thinking they were going to be a cinematic masterpiece. I can’t even imagine the people making it thought they were making a good movie. Like it follows a pretty standard raunchy comedy formula. I’m not sure when comedies turned into this, but they did at some point during the mid 00’s. Anyway, this definitely isn’t anything special. The characters are bad people, but not fleshed out enough for them to be believable like the characters in Always Sunny. Adam DeVine is over the top as usual, Aubrey Plaza is also painful to watch. Zefron and Anna Kendrick are mildly enjoyable, I think they did the best they could with the material they had. Anyway, this movie is set in Hawaii, so there’s some beautiful summer time shots throughout the film. In fact I almost wonder if this film was just an excuse for the actors to go on vacation. Anyway, the beautiful scenery will definitely evoke a summer time feel, and it’s not the worst comedy you’ll ever see. If you’re dreaming of a beach getaway, make yourself a Pina colada and throw this on for a mildly good time.
