Election (1999): Back to School

Election (1999): Back to School

August 12, 2018

So, if I'm being honest, I haven't gone back to school in a few years now (although I do work in schools so technically, I do still get to have the back to school feeling a little bit). But honestly, back to school season is the whole reason I created this blog. I was always so excited for autumn and new school supplies that I spent the week before getting into the spirit by watching my favorite shows and movies set at schools. Eventually I compiled a list and since could not find any website like this (dedicated specifically to media for different holidays), I decided to make it. So now that you know the history, this movie is a dark comedy set in a high school. Tracy is an overly enthusiastic student who is involved in all possible extra curriculars and is running for student council. However, there is one person who doesn't want her to win - her teacher, Mr. McAllister. He dislikes Tracy due to knowing about her previous affair with a teacher. He fears what being close to her could do to his career so he attempts to stay away by pushing another student to run for president. This causes Tracy to snap and go to extreme measures to ensure her win. This movie is kind of dark, but it is full of great comedic moments and is fully centered around the student body elections. I think this is a great film to get you ready for back-to-school.
