“The One Where Underdog Gets Away” Season 1, Episode 9

This is the first Thanksgiving episode of Friends. Monica and Ross’s parents are away for the holiday, so they decide to have dinner at Monica’s apartment. Phoebe is free, so she joins them as well. Joey also decides to join once an advertisement he posed for begins to haunt him. Meanwhile, Rachel is trying to scrape together money to go skiing in Vail with her family. Chandler doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving because it reminds him of his parents telling him about their divorce. While they are celebrating, they see that an Underdog balloon has escaped from the Thanksgiving Day parade, and the group runs out to the roof to look for it. This leaves them locked out of the apartment and thanksgiving seemingly ruined. I love the Friends thanksgiving episodes; I think they are definitely the best of the show's holiday episodes. Monica’s apartment is festively decorated; there’s food, mention of the parade, and cozy sweaters. In my opinion, that’s everything you need for a great thanksgiving episode. I highly recommend checking it out!
