Friday the 13th (1980): Summer
July 18, 2016
This movie is a classic, horror and summer. It created one of the most notorious movie villains of all time. This movie follows the counselors at Camp Crystal Lake as they do things teenagers do and then proceed to get murdered by a crazed killer. As I said, this movie is a horror classic and I definitely appreciate what it did for the genre. However, as I said in my post for The Burning, I do think there are better summer camp slashers out there. However, this is still good watch. I think it can definitely fit in both the Halloween and Summer categories and I will tag it in both. The setting makes it summer themed and the horror and slasher content make it halloween-worthy. Summer camps are one of my favorite nostalgic film settings, whether campers are getting slashed or not. A bunch of teens swimming in a lake, singing around a fire, and getting into trouble will always get me in the mood for summer, which is why I watch this every year to get myself in the summer spirit!
