Fired Up (2009): Summer
July 15, 2016
So this movie came out when I was sixteen and my best friends and I loved it. I can pretty much quote the entire thing. It got terrible reviews and to be frank, it isn’t great. It’s pretty crude for a PG-13 movie and is pretty painfully sexist, which doesn’t bother me much, and I’m willing to bet it’s because of my nostalgia goggles. Either way, this movie is stupid and funny and my best friends and I still watch it fairly frequently. This movie follows two high school (ahem… 30 year olds… the actors are literally in their 30s) football players as they ditch summer football camp to go to cheerleading camp. Their plan is to hook up with as many girls as they can and then ditch the team before the big competition and go back to party with the football team. So it’s basically a bunch of bro humor combined with cheerleading which is strange but delightful. It takes place during summer camp, but it honestly doesn’t scream summer. Either way, I like this movie.
