Adventureland (2009): Summer
June 27, 2018
In 1980s Pittsburgh, recent college grad James learns that his family is having money problems and he needs to get a summer job before going to graduate school. He settles on a job at local theme park, Adventureland. This movie will resonate with anyone who has needed to work a shitty summer job to make ends meet. This movie is kind of hipstery, but also has an old school summer vibe that is really cool and laid back. It makes a lame-ass job look fun because of the camaraderie between coworkers, which honestly is usually the best part of a shitty job. The movie has a nostalgic feel and elicits a hot, humid, teenage/young adult college. I recommend checking this movie out if you need a low-key summer rom com. It will get you in the mood for the lazy end of summer days.
