"Spooked" Season 8, Episode 5

So this is the first Halloween episode after the departure of Steve Carrell and I really think the show was still trying to find its footing. One major standout in the episode is Ellie Kempur as Erin. She has been assigned to throw the office Halloween party, and she is under a lot of pressure from Andy to make it excellent because their boss Robert California will be present. Erin enlists Gabe's help to make the party "more adult" because she doesn't know how. Gabe ends up making the party weird, as Gabe usually does. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam argue over the existence of ghosts because Pam is certain she has seen a ghost and Jim thinks she's crazy. I think this episode is good for where the show was in its story. I think I'm in the minority with this opinion but I always liked James Spader as Robert California, I think he's so weirdly funny. I think even where this episode is weak plot wise, it is a fun Halloween episodes because the majority of the episode is focused on the party. I'd say it's a worthwhile Halloween watch.
