Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964): Christmas

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964): Christmas

December 13, 2016

Well, talk about a classic. This movie has been an annual must-watch since it premiered in the 60's (it's had some nips and tucks here and there, but it relatively the same as the original now). My parents have always watched it, I've always watched it, my kids will always watch it. I mean, obviously there are some technical things that don't hold up in the present day, but it's charming and cute and dripping with Christmas themes. In case you've been living under a rock, this movie is based on the classic Christmas song and is about a reindeer who is born with a strange glowing red nose. The other reindeer reject him until Santa realizes that Rudolph can save Christmas when a snowstorm threatens to stop him. The movie adds in a couple other plot lines including an elf who dreams of being a dentist, an island of misfit toys, and a goldminer. Not to mention my personal favorite character, the abominable snowman, aka Bumble. My dog even has a Bumble toy. The movie is also narrated by a super cool snowman voiced by Burl Ives. Definitely add it to your list, if it's not on there already.
